Lurk and Learn: Stalking Reddit Influencers Playbook

Reddit is notorious for self-promotion but there are a few geniuses who make Reddit their #1 distribution channel.

And the best part about it is you can see their exact strategies using a few tricks.

1. Stalk their profile

If you know their exact username, you can just type reddit.com/user/<username> in browser to find all their posts on Reddit.

For example, https://reddit.com/user/dinoleif shows you how the guy behind Turboscribe is promoting his SaaS.

Or how https://www.reddit.com/user/marclouv/ is promoting his projects.

Pro-tip: Use https://old.reddit.com/user/marclouv/ for a faster interface.

Definitely sort by Top posts or comments to find insights so you can copy their exact playbook in the exact subreddits.

2. Search their site

Now, more often you don't know their exact username.

And not everyone uses the same usernames on different sites.

In this scenario, just search for their site in Reddit's Search field.

You will find which user has mentioned the site so you can nail down if they are the owner.

3. Search their username

And sometimes you can find the user via search but if the user was suspended, you can't see their exact posts.

In this case, you can simply search their username in the Reddit's search bar.

For example, you could've searched "marclouv" in the search bar if https://www.reddit.com/user/marclouv/ was suspended.

On Reddit, you will find multiple accounts promoting the same site. Its often the same user (most times the founder) since making a new acccount on Reddit is very easy.

Doing this will show you their old posts which you can use to replicate your strategy.

In short, see what they are doing, reverse-engineer it, and then do it for your own product.

Reddit is simple to manipulate.

A tool to Get Real Answers from Real People

The Giga Brain is a site that scans billions of discussions on reddit and other online communities to find the most useful posts and comments for you.

This is probably how LLM-based SEO will look like.

The Giga Brain

This video shows you how to scrape the best instagram leads.

If you are a SEO Agency specializing in HVAC, you can target Small Business Owners with HVAC in their profile.

If you are a Repurpose SaaS like Reuse Video, you can target Influencers who can save their time.

If you want to go out on a date with someone in your city, you can get a list of potential dates targeted by city.

Unlimited use-cases once you learn this trick.

Tweet of the day

This one shocked me the most.

Former employees downloading their entire customer list before leaving and trying to sell it to their former employer's competitors is something I didn't even think of.

Scary as a business owner but who said business wasn't ruthless?

If you haven't watched The Founder (2016), I recommend watching it. Its a biography on the man who got McDonalds from its original founders.

After watching it, you'll realize how ruthless some founders can be. The same goes for some employees.

Rabbit Holes

  1. AIO: Artificial Intelligence Optimization - The future of SEO is AIO. You have to optimize for ChatGPT, Gemini, XAI, and Claude. This post was published over a year ago but its only becoming truer day by day.

  2. How to go Viral on Twitter - Tweet ranking hacks and secrets that have been shared on GitHub! - Twitter Algorithm broken down. If you want to manipulate something, you must understand it.

  3. Reddit Marketing; How To Find Clients on Reddit? - Reddit is harsh on self-promotion. This is a playbook you must follow if you want to get clients or promote on Reddit.

Startup of the day

Glifs are fun AI apps anyone can build.

Glifs 1

It is a mini-project builder with variety of use-cases covered from designing shoes to making memes.

Glifs 2

If done right, this has viral potential.

Just the meme thing has insane potential.

Use an AI to make funny prompts so anyone can do comedy and go viral with memes.

Here's how I'd grow this:

  1. Buy a Meme Page or ask them to promote Glifs by making Memes in Glifs and having a watermark plus a CTA as the 1st comment. Most Meme Pages are managed by teenagers. Only now Adults are realizing meme potential but let's be real, most are teenagers. So you can get a package deal cheaply.

  2. Use /r/Funny, /r/Memes, /r/ProgrammingHumour to go viral on Reddit. Every Image-related app from Imgur to Gfycat to Kapwing to Dingboard went viral on Reddit. Watermarks are less likely to be removed and its a good PLG (Product-Led Growth) hack.

  3. Make it a 1-click share when someone finishes a Glif. The fewer steps it takes for someone to share it on their socials, the more they'll do it. You can easily grow faster with this hack.

  4. Use Intro's X Strategy but with Memes. The Technology Brother is doing it better than anyone I've seen. Just copy The Technology Brother.
