YouTube Bots: Genius or Stupid?

I got a notification this morning on Alex Hormozi's YouTube channel so I clicked the video and started scrolling the comment section.

I noticed one comment that caught my eye. It didn't stand out at all. It looked pretty general like AI wrote it.

But it had a women's profile pic. We've already covered how using a female name and profile pic increases conversion rate and reply rate in general.

So I clicked to see if they had anything to sell.

And fair enough, it did have a link.

It was a link pointing to a URL shortener using bit.ly but redirected to a dating site.

Now imagine the scale at which these bots are running. They aren't even technically hard to make.

You only need 2 things:

1. Listen when a new YouTube Video is released from a Top YouTube Channel so you can transcribe the video to get the context of it.

2. Reply with an AI-generated response to the video at random times within 1 or 2 hours of posting. You can use a local LLM instead of OpenAI's API to reply so the costs are under $50 per month.

Then just create 100s of random profiles with female names & profile pics to get more likes so people check your profile to get the affiliate money if they join the dating site.

Finally, run this at an enormous scale and it works because majority of people are really not that smart.

The Podcast Darknet Diaries covered Spam Botnets where they were sending millions of emails per minute and billions per month to get people to sign up to dating sites and make money by being affiliates to pharmaceutical companies.

The Russian hacker behind it made $100 million doing mass spamming at scale. He was the #1, #2, and #3 affiliate of the site under different names.

You can definitely use the techniques behind this to get more customers with a good enough offer.

For example, a YouTuber can use this to comment a nice summary with human-like TL;DR on every video on his niche to grow his YouTube account. When you come across someone 100s of times using the similar avatar and name, people start remembering you so it is a great way to grow when you are small.

All algorithms group themselves in a niche so if you do this at scale, you will get recommended to more people in your niche until a point where you have to make generic content.
