How Translate Mom Built a Growth Loop on X
Translate Mom is a service that dubs, captions, and translates videos and audio into multiple languages.
Its clever marketing strategy includes a growth hack designed specifically for X (formerly Twitter).
How the Growth Hack Works
When a video goes viral on X, users can tag @TranslateMom in the comments. The service then translates the video into other languages and shares the translated version with the user.

This creates a loop where translated content introduces the platform to new audiences. For example, a viral English video might be translated into Spanish, making it accessible to millions of Spanish speakers worldwide.

Spanish is the fourth most spoken language globally, with 548 million speakers, as highlighted in ImagenMIA, a PhotoAI clone specifically for the Spanish market.

The service also includes UTM tracking links in its tweets, like this:

These links help the team track traffic and identify which tweets perform best.
For example, they can monitor the most-used languages, optimal posting times, and which accounts drive the most sales.
Then, 10x the volume on the popular accounts using your own puppet accounts with a popular language.

The Story Behind Translate Mom
The creator of Translate Mom, Monta Kaoh, shared the origin of the idea.
He explained, āI was playing around with Whisper and used it to translate some Chinese cooking videos. I realized it could be useful to others, so I worked on making it easy to use... so easy my mom could use it (hence the name)ā
Early Growth Strategies
In the beginning, Monta promoted Translate Mom on Reddit and SaaS directories. While these efforts helped, much of the growth came organically through X.

For example, when the account was shadowbanned, traffic to the site dropped significantly.

You can find many of the viral videos that boosted the service by searching for "from:TranslateMom min_faves:100" on X. This shows posts with at least 100 likes from the @TranslateMom account.
The service also attracts a highly diverse audience due to the nature of the product.

Pikaso: A tool for capturing and sharing tweet screenshots.
Threadreader: A service that turns Twitter threads into a readable format.
Readwise: A tool for managing highlights and book notes.
Typefully: A platform for scheduling and crafting tweets.
Tweet Shot: A tool for screenshotting tweets.
These tools get a lot of organic growth from X by allowing users to tag them.
Translate Mom's Genius Revenue Boost

šStop making high effort contentš
Stick to low effort posts you can churn out quickly so you can then spend the rest of your days replying 1000-2000 times to other accounts.

TIL X pays you money on replies, not high-quality original content.
There are creators who reply with GIFs or one-word GenZ slangs like "banger", "for real" and get 1500 replies per day to cross the 5 million impressions requirement.
After doing that, they make $100 or $200 per month by being a reply guy. They don't even sell a cheap ($10) digital product which they definitely could and make $10k per month easily.
Any person with time can exploit this. If you are a business owner, you can hire a VA for $1000 per month and scale this entire operation up to $10k per month per person.
