LinkedIn Growth Hacks: 145,000 Followers in 14 Months

LinkedIn is often overlooked, but it holds immense potential for business growth. Greg, who grew from zero to 145,000 followers in 14 months, shared his insights on how to leverage LinkedIn effectively.

The Power of LinkedIn for Business Growth

Greg started as a skeptic, calling LinkedIn "mega cringe." But after seeing the platform drive millions in revenue for his businesses, he changed his tune.

It took him just 15 hours of work to create content for LinkedIn, proving that the platform can be a powerful tool for growth.

Greg believes LinkedIn in 2025 is like Twitter in 2020 — there’s a lot of opportunity to grow fast. He describes it as "fishing with dynamite," meaning you can achieve significant organic reach on the platform right now.

The ACP Funnel: Audience, Community, Product

Greg’s strategy revolves around the ACP Funnel: Audience, Community, Product.

He starts by building an audience on platforms like Twitter or TikTok. If the audience grows, he creates a community around it. Finally, he develops products for that community.

For example, he started a Twitter account called Boring Marketer, which focused on boring marketing tips but it only gained traction when they talked about boring SEO tips. So he built a free community and later launched an AI-assisted SEO agency.

The business, Boring Marketing, is projected to do $7-$8 million in ARR in 2025.

Practical Tips for LinkedIn Growth

Leveraging LinkedIn Video Content

LinkedIn’s new video tab is a game-changer. LinkedIn is becoming TikTok. If you post videos, they can reach far more people. You don’t need to be on camera — faceless videos using AI tools like ElevenLabs work just as well.

Choose simple captions for these videos. Greg advises using "The future is now" or "The world needs more positivity now" because everyone's going to agree with simple sentiments like that. This can increase reach.

Storytelling on LinkedIn

Stories resonate deeply on LinkedIn. Greg recommends writing down 15 career stories with the help of a team member. Your own career provides a well of content for posts.

Vulnerable stories work really well. Greg recommends to pair these stories with photos of you to make them go 10x viral. For example, one of his posts with a personal photo received significant engagement.

Using Infographics for Engagement

Infographics can drive significant engagement. Greg’s first LinkedIn post was an infographic with the caption, "This is your 2023 energy." It got 151,684 likes.

Greg explains that everyone wants to feel positive about the future, which is why this type of content performs so well.

Monetizing LinkedIn Audience

Avoiding LinkedIn Algorithm Suppression for Using Links

Greg learned the hard way that adding links to posts too early can suppress their reach.

After consulting LinkedIn’s team, he found a solution: "If you post something that gets more than 150-200 likes after 4 hours, you can add a link without suppression."

This tactic ensures that your content reaches a wider audience before you attempt to monetize it.

Effective Lead Magnets To Grab Emails

Lead magnets are crucial for capturing leads. Greg creates multiple lead magnets each month. One example is a database of startup ideas, which 5,000 people downloaded in last 30 days. He doesn’t know what he’s going to sell to them, but he still has them segmented on Kit, formerly ConvertKit.

"People don’t come to your website to buy your product; they come there to learn. By offering valuable lead magnets, you can attract and nurture potential customers effectively." ~ Greg Isenberg

LinkedIn is a powerful platform for growth and monetization. Start small—post videos, share stories, and use infographics. With the right approach, you can turn LinkedIn into a valuable asset for your business.
