Keysearch's Guerilla Meme Marketing
SEMRush and Ahrefs are both expensive as hell for a small business owner. They cost $139/month and $129/month respectively on their smallest plan.

But most people don't need that many features of Ahrefs and SEMRush.
Now compare that to the pricing of KeySearch.

The 2024 Olympics gave birth to a new meme during the Air Pistol event.
Yusuf Dikec Meme
While other Olympians went with sophisticated gadgets, Yusuf went just the essentials and won the silver medal.

And that meme was everywhere.
Spotify vs YouTube To MP3 Meme
But not many people used it for promoting their own SaaS except for the founders of Keysearch.
They used Guerilla Meme Marketing to insert themselves into the conversation (Olympics) that was already going on.

Guerilla Marketing means using novel, surprising and unconventional interactions to promote a product or a service.
Meme marketing means using popular internet images to promote a product and service.
Combine those two and you've got Guerilla Meme Marketing.
"A picture says 1,000 words, and maybe a meme says 10,000 words. It's a complex picture with a bunch of meaning in it.β
The caption on the meme wasted no words.
No frills - No frills means not fancy. It also means providing just the essentials. It is true in case of KeySearch. They provide the 80/20 of SEO unlike Ahrefs and SEMRush which are complicated.
8x more affordable - Charges $17/month instead of charging $129/month or $139/month. That's a $1000 cost savings per year.
Gets the job done - Good enough to get you the results
One customer purchased the annual pro license for it within 2 mins of seeing the meme.
It got 84% increase in daily signups. They compared the previous Thursday's data to this Thursday's signup data using Posthog and compared just the day prior (both comparisons were 80%+ increases.)
And it drew a 40% increase in new Keysearch subscribers/trials on a week-over-week basis.
It got 114k views but it got the attention of the right people. The founder has only 13,900 followers so it goes on to show that you need the right audience rather than big audience (100k+ followers.)
They were only able to do this because they knew how to make memes. And they have done so previously.

This one only got ~4.5k views.
It takes a little bit of skill to make memes but once you get good at it, you can say a lot within the fewest of words.

This video gives a deep dive on how the top 1% make their money.
Fun Fact: Most people make their 1st million from Real Estate because it has always appreciated in value based on the assumption of a growing population.
But the population is stalling across countries nowadays as more people go childfree. Japan is a good example. And the 2nd order effect will be seen in Japanβs Real Estate Prices.

This MAY be very farfetched but hold my sparkling water:
- Global temperatures started rising in ~1950
- US started installing ACs in ~1950
- 90% of US homes have AC- EU never did: only 19% of EU homes have AC (!)
- Only 16% of the top EU companies were founded after 1950

Idk if there is scientific research on this but most people agree that ACs make for better productivity.
But Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew agreed that ACs were responsible for Singapore's Growth and Google ran studies on finding optimal temperature for productivity.
And Cold Climates trigger urgency to start preparing for winter which doesn't happen in Warmer Climates.
In recent years, Wim Hof has popularized Cold Lunges and Cold Showers which does make you feel much better.

The reason I don't work with poor people isn't because they're poor. It's because higher prices naturally filter out problem individuals. A year ago we took on a client who was well below our usual price point because we were in a cash crunch. They ended up consuming like 80% myβ¦ x.com/i/web/status/1β¦

Its harder to take someone from 0 to 1 than it is to take them from 1 to 100.
Poor ones have self-belief problems that can't be solved by training them with pure skills.
More often than not, self-belief is the problem.

Rabbit Holes
The $1M marketing secret of ShipFast - The marketing behind ShipFast was phenomenal. When you see a product get disproportional hate online, it means it went mainstream. People only hate that which will give them status.
Dave Tate: The Void - Dave Tate is a bodybuilder and a powerlifter. This is an incredible piece of going into the void. Its hard to explain what the void is unless you've been there.
Inspiration is perishable - "Inspiration is like fresh fruit or milk: It has an expiration date." ~ David Heinemeier Hansson. When you get inspiration, act on it immediately. You can do a week of work in 4 hours.
