Keysearch's Guerilla Meme Marketing

Keysearch is a SEMRush and Ahrefs alternative.

SEMRush and Ahrefs are both expensive as hell for a small business owner. They cost $139/month and $129/month respectively on their smallest plan.

But most people don't need that many features of Ahrefs and SEMRush.

Now compare that to the pricing of KeySearch.

The 2024 Olympics gave birth to a new meme during the Air Pistol event.

While other Olympians went with sophisticated gadgets, Yusuf went just the essentials and won the silver medal.

And that meme was everywhere.

But not many people used it for promoting their own SaaS except for the founders of Keysearch.

They used Guerilla Meme Marketing to insert themselves into the conversation (Olympics) that was already going on.

Guerilla Marketing means using novel, surprising and unconventional interactions to promote a product or a service.

Meme marketing means using popular internet images to promote a product and service.

Combine those two and you've got Guerilla Meme Marketing.

The caption on the meme wasted no words.

• No frills - No frills means not fancy. It also means providing just the essentials. It is true in case of KeySearch. They provide the 80/20 of SEO unlike Ahrefs and SEMRush which are complicated.

• 8x more affordable - Charges $17/month instead of charging $129/month or $139/month. That's a $1000 cost savings per year.

• Gets the job done - Good enough to get you the results

One customer purchased the annual pro license for it within 2 mins of seeing the meme.

It got 84% increase in daily signups. They compared the previous Thursday's data to this Thursday's signup data using Posthog and compared just the day prior (both comparisons were 80%+ increases.)

And it drew a 40% increase in new Keysearch subscribers/trials on a week-over-week basis.

This one only got ~4.5k views.

It takes a little bit of skill to make memes but once you get good at it, you can say a lot within the fewest of words.
