Dating Apps Monopoly

If you looked at the parent companies of all dating apps in the world, you'd realize that they are owned by one single company known as Match Group.

As of June 2024, Match Group owns the following dating services:

  • Archer

  • Asian People Meet

  • Azar

  • Baby Boomer People Meet

  • Black People Meet

  • Black Christian People Meet

  • Black Professional People Meet

  • BLK

  • Catholic People Meet

  • Chinese People Meet

  • Chispa

  • Delightful

  • Democratic People Meet

  • Divorced People Meet

  • GenX People Meet

  • Hakuna

  • Hinge

  • India Match

  • Interracial People Meet

  • Italian People Meet

  • J People Meet

  • Latino People Meet

  • LDS Planet

  • Little People Meet

  • Loveandseek

  • Marriage Minded People Meet

  • Match.com

  • Meetic

  • OkCupid

  • Ourtime

  • Pairs

  • Peoplemeet

  • Petpeoplemeet

  • Plenty of Fish

  • Republican People Meet

  • Senior Black People Meet

  • Ship

  • Single People Meet

  • Stir

  • The League

  • Tinder

  • Upward

  • Yuzu

  • Veggie People Meet

Except Bumble, there are very few dating apps not owned by Match Group.

If you have a monopoly like this, it can be abused. For example, a guy banned on one dating app will be banned on all the others.

And this isn't just for dating apps.

If you plot a graph of all media channels that actually get views, you'll realise most of them are owned by one company.

The same is true for countless popular newspapers.

If you read history, John D Rockefeller did the same with his Oil Monopoly.

If you want to build a big business in a vertical, this seems like a good strategy to follow.

Reduce prices so that your competitors can't compete with you and have to sell for pennies on dollar. When they can't sustain growth to pay enough to their employees, they will sell their business to you for much cheaper than their market rate.

And then slowly grab all competition to form a monopoly. This is harder to do today because of Europe and other antitrust regulations but still good enough strategy to make you a billionaire.

A tool to Get Detailed Insights for On-Page SEO

Detailed SEO extension by Glen Allsopp is a great way to check On-Page SEO with a click of a button.

It is a masterclass on building systems for an agency and solving problems that arise within even when you don't have all the answers. Trust me on this one, its gold.

Expect call spoofing to happen a lot more in the wild in 2024-2025. Forward this to your loved ones so they can protect themselves from getting scammed. Highly recommend listening to this podcast by Rachel Tobac on Darknet Diaries.

Rabbit Holes

  1. SEO Experiments From the Google Algorithm Leak - ELI5 Explanation from Google's Algorithm Leak.

  2. Spam Traps Growing Like Wildfire! - The easier something becomes, the harder it is to succeed in it. If creating videos becomes easier thanks to TikTok's CapCut, then winning on TikTok becomes much harder. The same is true for Cold Emails. It has become hell of a lot easier to send Cold Emails now and that's why the Spam Gods at Gmail & Outlook are working harder to catch spam from reaching inbox. Harder to enter an industry can be a competitive advantage in the long run.

  3. How Derek Sivers Rejected Me And Made Me A Fan - There comes a time in a person's life that they have to say No to many obligations. The most successful ones have to say No to 1000 opportunities to work on the one that changes their life. You have to be willing to enter The Season Of NO to focus on the thing that matters most.
